James N. Purcell’s public affairs career spans every U.S. Administration since President John F. Kennedy.
Throughout his career, Purcell has been active in humanitarian relief work in every region of the world. Purcell directed two of the world’s most involved humanitarian organizations as the Assistant Secretary of State at the U.S. Bureau for Refugee Programs and the Director General of the Geneva-based International Organization for Migration.
Currently he advises governments and organizations on international migration and humanitarian affairs, including the Institute of Study of International Migration at Georgetown University. James Purcell served as President of the U.S. Association for International Migration (USAIM) from December 2010-2012.
